Gus Deeds, the senator's son, apparently left college to help his father's 2009 campaign for governor.
Del. David Toscano, D-Charlottesville, said in a statement: "Sen. Deeds was very close to his son, Gus, and has taken herculean efforts to help him over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Creigh and the family at this difficult time."
Gus Deeds withdrew from university last month from the College of William and Mary in Virginia though the reason as to why is unknown. He is said to have had high marks. Gus and his father reportedly had an argument that left to what police are saying they suspect to be an attempted murder/suicide.
