The Senate Intelligence Committee approved the 2014 Intelligence Authorization Act which authorizes intelligence funding. The funding will be aimed at fighting terror activities around the world and includes covert operations.
Intelligence gathering has come under the media's scope in recent months as documents leaked to the press by Edward Snowden has revealed a number of US intelligence practices. Some of these practices have made the US' international relations strained, including last month when reports surfaced that the National Security Agency was tapping German Chancellor Angela Merkel's mobile phone.
