By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Terrifying footage from a New Jersey family's nanny cam shows a burglar brutally attacking a Millburn mother in front of her three-year-old daughter.

Authorities are searching for the 5-foot-11, 210-pound man they said entered the home last Friday morning. He reportedly kicked down the locked back door and began punching and choking the mother of two. He eventually threw her down the stairs.

Police Capt. Michael Palardy said the woman's one-year-old daughter slept upstairs.

“He brutally beat me in front of my daughter,” the unidentified woman told CBS New York. “She watched the whole thing.”

According to the New York Daily News, the attacker stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry from the woman's bedroom and asked her for her pocketbook.

“He’s a lefty, every punch and kick was lefty,” Palardy said. “He believed no one was home, and when he came across someone, his reactions were violent.

“There was no reason for it, she would have given him anything he wanted,” he added.

The mother told News 12 New Jersey that she didn't cry out to protect her children.

"I knew that if I started screaming, my daughter would too, and I was afraid she would get hurt," she said. "I took it. I didn't cry the entire time."
