Police found the body of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd on Monday and have been investigating several leads. His body was found near an industrial park by a jogger, and may have been there more than a day.
"He was stiff, motionless," the jogger that found the body said. "One of the police officers came back later and said it looked like the guy had been shot somewhere else and dumped here."
Investigators on the scene it was uncertain whether Lloyd was shot in the clearing where he was found or if his body was left there.
A law enforcement official said that Hernandez appears to be directly tied to the homicide.
A recent report shows that Hernandez was with Lloyd, a semi-pro football player, the night of the homicide. Lloyd had dated Hernandez's sister.
Lloyd, Hernandez and two other men were at a bar in Boston the night of the homicide. At some point, a source says the men left together in a car driven by Hernandez, as confirmed by one of Lloyd's text messages.
Later that night, only three men returned to Hernandez's home -- and Lloyd was not among them.
On Tuesday, 10 police cars were parked outside Hernandez's $1.3 million home while officers held a three-hour search of his home. One detective came out with a large cardboard box.
Hernandez is not believed to be the murder suspect, but a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban tied to the homicide was rented in his name and found near where Lloyd's body was found.
Police are searching for a silver side-view mirror cover that may have broken off a vehicle and a silver Chrysler 300 rental car with Rhode Island plates.
This is not the first time Hernandez has been tied to a shooting -- he is the subject of a lawsuit that alleges he shot a man in February at a Miami strip club. The case has since been dismissed for paperwork errors, but is expected to be re-filed.
