Toddler falls 50-60 feet to death in Arizona

Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The 2 1/2-year-old child died after falling 50-60 feet from a trail in Sedona, Ariz.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said the unidentified toddler fell below the Midgley Bridge around 2 p.m. Saturday in Sedona, which is 117 miles north of Phoenix

Sedona firefighters had to rappel the vertical rock face to reach the victim, who was deceased when they arrived.

The family of the child was vacationing from Omaha, Neb. The circumstances of the fall were not known.

Midgley Bridge is part of the Coconino National Forest at the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona. It is popular area in Sedona where hikers can access the creek from nearby trailheads.
