May 27 (UPI) -- A 12-year-old boy was killed Saturday when the boat he was riding in with family crashed into the Midpoint Memorial Bridge in Florida, investigators said.

The crash happened just before 9 a.m., when a 32-foot twin vessel crashed into one of the bridge's support columns. The bridge connects Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

The victim was identified as Noah Pollack. The boy's younger brother, Wade, 10, also suffered critical injuries and was air-lifted from the scene. Benjamin Tipton, 72, the boys' grandfather, was also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The boys' father suffered only minor injuries.

The foursome was headed to the Key West.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the crash. They said they have not determined the cause.
