May 26 (UPI) -- A prisoner at a medium security prison in Minneapolis remains at large after a group of inmates escaped on Friday, law enforcement said.

A prisoner at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Lino Lakes scaled a fence and hijacked an idling prison transport van carrying several other inmates around 11 a.m. Friday. Police recovered the van in north Minneapolis shortly thereafter and took nine of the inmates into custody at gunpoint, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

One man, James Douglas Mitchell, 26, remains at large. He is described as a black male wearing standard prison garb: a blue, button-down correctional shirt over a white T-shirt with blue jeans and white tennis shoes, a corrections department spokeswoman said.

Mitchell was serving time for assault.

Minneapolis police advised residents in the neighborhood near where the van was recovered to remain indoors and call 911 if they spot any suspicious activity in the area.
