Former Fox News anchor Nauert named State Dept. spokesperson

April 25 (UPI) -- The State Department named former Fox News journalist Heather Nauert as its official spokesperson.

Nauert, 47, was an anchor and reporting correspondent on Fox News' morning cable television program Fox and Friends. She was involved in coverage of the past four presidential campaigns and inaugurations, and anchored coverage of terrorist attacks in Orlando, San Bernadino, Calif., and Boston, a State Department statement said Monday.

Prior to her association with Fox News, she was a global reporter for ABC News and received an Emmy nomination for her reporting work in Iraq.
