Second suspect arrested in San Antonio mall shooting

One suspect was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot by a mall shopper.

Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Police said they arrested and charged a second suspect Monday in a weekend shooting at a San Antonio shopping mall in which one person was killed.

One person was killed and five were injured Sunday in what San Antonio Police Chief William McManus described as "a robbery gone really, really bad."

Shoppers in the Rolling Oaks Mall attempted to stop two men after they allegedly robbed a mall jewelry store. One of the suspects was shot by a shopper and hospitalized in critical condition. The second suspect fired at people in the mall, injuring three, as he escaped. Three shoppers were shot and two others sustained non-shooting injuries.

Police in Converse, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio, said the second suspect was found with two weapons in a stolen car with when he was arrested Sunday. He was not identified.

Both suspects face a capital murder charge, as well as two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
