Watch live: Scott Pruitt's confirmation hearing for EPA

By UPI Staff

Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The man who once said he believes climate change is "far from settled," Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, faces a confirmation hearing Wednesday to be the next Environmental Protection Agency administrator.

Pruitt, nominated by President-elect Donald Trump in December, is appearing at a hearing before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Senators in the committee are likely to question Pruitt's support of the fossil fuels industry and his move to join other states that sued the Obama administration for its policy to reduce greenhouse emissions at power plants.

"I think the attitude with the EPA and certain environmental groups is that fossil fuels are bad -- period," Pruitt has said. "And they're doing everything they can to use the rule-making process to attack."
