Watch live: President Obama's last press conference

By Andrew V. Pestano

Jan. 18 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama holds his final press conference Wednesday, two days before Donald Trump assumes the presidency.

At 2:15 p.m., Obama will likely answer questions related to -- among other topics -- Trump's incoming administration and his decision on Tuesday to commute the sentences of 209 U.S. prisoners, including Chelsea Manning, the former Army intelligence soldier who leaked classified information to WikiLeaks in 2010.

On Friday, Obama will welcome Trump and his family to the White House before the presidential inauguration. The outgoing president and first lady Michelle Obama will fly to California for a vacation after the inaugural ceremony.

After the vacation, Obama will return to Washington, D.C., where he has agreed to lease office space in the World Wildlife Fund's headquarters to continue working after he leaves the White House.

Obama previously said he wishes to help shape the future of the Democratic Party and said he wants to continue work on environmental conservation and climate change. Former presidents receive taxpayer dollars to help pay for office space, staff, travel and mailing expenses, under federal law.

The Obamas will live in Washington, D.C., for at least two years while Sasha, their youngest daughter, finishes high school.

Obama is leaving office with his highest job approval rating since shortly after becoming president -- 60 percent.
