Trump super PAC mistakenly posted donor credit card numbers

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- A super PAC supporting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump mistakenly published the credit card information of nearly 50 donors online, a report states.

According to the Center for Public Integrity, the Great America PAC made the error last month, when the credit card number and expiration dates for 49 donors were available in filings online with the Federal Elections Commission.

Great America PAC Treasurer Dan Backer told the Center for Public Integrity, which found the mistake when it reviewed the group's financial filings for September, the incident happened as a result of "an isolated software glitch in an otherwise automated process."

The incident comes after the group was criticized for disclosing the names, telephone numbers and emails of more than 300 donors in other documents. That information was included in the Great America PAC's August filings.

Backer said any donors who requested a refund would be given one, and staff at the PAC will be retrained on how to properly comply with federal regulations without disclosing donors' personal information.

"Going forward, there's going to be some unpleasant conversations with the compliance staff about these issues," Backer said.
