QUANTICO, Va., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The FBI will make public its internal report and supporting notes regarding its investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email system while secretary of state.

The FBI already handed over those documents to a congressional panel but will take the unusual step of releasing notes of an investigation that did not result in criminal charges. A spokesman told CNN the FBI is doing so in response to numerous Freedom of Information requests from news outlets, interest groups and private citizens.

CNN reports the report could come out as soon as Wednesday.

The report itself is said to be about 12 pages, with an additional 30 pages of notes taken by the FBI agents who interviewed Clinton about her email server.

FBI Director James Comey said Clinton was "extremely careless" with her handling of classified government information and put it as risk of being hacked by foreign agents, but he ultimately said her conduct did not meet the standard set for criminal prosecution.

The FBI will not release any information pertaining to Clinton aides who were interviewed or other investigative materials related to the inquiry, which were also handed over to Congress.
