At least 24 people injured on turbulent JetBlue flight

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- At least 22 passengers and two crew members were injured during major turbulence on a JetBlue flight that was diverted to South Dakota, the airline said.

Flight 429 from Boston to Sacramento safely landed in Rapid City, S.D., at about 7:30 p.m., the airline said. From there, the 24 injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"It was like a dream, people were flying out of their seat belts and hitting their head on the ceiling, it was very scary," passenger Rhonda Renee said.

JetBlue sent the remaining passengers on to Sacramento on a replacement aircraft a short time later, the airline said.

Passengers were expected to arrive in Sacramento about 4 a.m.
