Man suspected of shooting at police in Georgia killed in shootout with U.S. Marshals

EAST POINT, Ga., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A Georgia man, allegedly wanted for firing at police in Atlanta, was killed during a shootout with U.S. Marshals on Friday.

Authorities told Fox 5 Jamarion Rashad Robinson, 26, was the same man wanted for firing at Atlanta police during an arrest attempt at the Royal Coach Apartments on July 28.

According to WSBTV, U.S. Marshals tracked Robinson to his girlfriend's apartment in East Point and attempted to arrest him.

About a dozen U.S. Marshals reportedly breached Robinson's door after he refused to open it. Law enforcement sources said he then opened fire on the Marshals who fired back, shooting and killing Robinson.

Robinson's grandmother Beverly Nixon disputed claims that her grandson was involved in the police shooting in Atlanta, but said he was bipolar and schizophrenic.

"He told me last night that he was seeing things and he heard things, "He kept saying something was trying to kill him."

An autopsy will be performed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.
