Ivanka Trump makes appeal to women voters in RNC speech

CLEVELAND, July 22 (UPI) -- Donald Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka, in introducing her father at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, praised him as a champion for working women and mothers and as a future president who will "fight for equal pay for equal work."

Ivanka, a mother of three and a Trump Organization executive vice president, said her father is a leader who is "colorblind and gender-neutral," dismissing criticism her father's rhetoric is divisive. She said her father is a man who will fight for the struggling middle class.

Ivanka, 34, praised her father's business acumen and ability to "see potential in others."

"It's also a prelude to reaching the goal that unites us all when this party, and better still this country, will know what it's like to win again," she said. "My father values talent. He recognizes real knowledge and skill when he finds it. He is colorblind and gender-neutral. He hires the best person for the job, period."

Ivanka said she will work beside her father to ensure women's rights remain on the forefront of the agenda.

"As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce," she said. "And he will focus on making quality child care affordable and accessible for all."
