WASHINGTON, June 30 (UPI) -- A group made up predominantly of Bernie Sanders supporters is suing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, alleging she "rigged" the primary for Hillary Clinton.

A group of 120 people, including 104 Sanders donors, filed suit in federal court in the Southern District of Florida, in the congresswoman's home district. In the suit, the plaintiffs say that Wasserman Schultz and the DNC were fraudulent, negligent and misrepresented their true motivations in the Democratic presidential primary.

Citing internal email and memos that have been leaked by someone claiming to have gotten them from Russian hackers who accessed DNC computer files, the plaintiffs say the DNC only ever considered Clinton to be the likely nominee.

The lawsuit quotes from a leaked 2015 memo that states the DNC's "goals in the coming months will be to frame the Republican field and the eventual nominee early and to provide a contrast between the GOP field and [Hillary Clinton]."

"Despite there being every indication that the 2016 Democratic primary would be contested by multiple candidates, including Sanders, the DNC Memo makes no mention of any Democratic candidate except Clinton, and builds the DNC's election strategy on the assumption that Clinton will be the nominee, with no doubts attached," the plaintiffs wrote.

The DNC has acknowledged it was hacked by Russians, but has not verified the authenticity of any of the documents leaked to the press in the wake of the data breach.

A DNC spokesman declined to comment on the lawsuit to New Times Broward-Palm Beach.
