Small plane crashes in Detroit, striking power line that falls on woman

DETROIT, June 28 (UPI) -- A small Cessna 150L plane crashed in Detroit on Monday night after running out of fuel, striking power lines that injured a woman on the ground.

The plane crashed in the middle of a residential street. The woman was struck and electrified by a live power line after getting out of her car. She was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in serious condition.

"I look over there and that's when I saw the lady hit by the wire and she was on the ground," Davion Dearman told ClickonDetroit. "The man in the plane, he jumped out and ran over here with us. They did CPR on her and she came back because they put her on the stretcher and hooked her up to the breathing machine."

The 18-year-old pilot of the plane was also injured, but not seriously, and hospitalized. The pilot was pulling a banner but he cut the banner from the plane after running out of fuel.
