MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich., June 27 (UPI) -- The body of a man was pulled from the Muskegon River in central Michgan -- the second drowning in the river in the past two days.

The man was found in 14 feet of water around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Mecosta County Sheriff Todd Purcell said. He was only identified as a 47-year-old man from Big Rapids.

The man and his 21-year-old daughter were fishing when heavy rain forced them to return to the boat landing.

With limited visibility, they hit some big debris, throwing them out of the boat, Purcell said.

The daughter made it to the riverbank and received treatment at an area hospital. Neither was wearing life jackets.

The man's body was found about a mile upstream from the River Ridge Resort in Stanwood.

The body of a 34-year-old Grand Rapids man was recovered from the river Saturday at downtown Newaygo's Riverfront Park. Witnesses said the man was fishing on the riverbank before he went missing.

The Newaygo County dive team assisted Mecosta County in both incidents.
