Missouri pilot dies in plane crash after performing stunts

POTOSI, Mo., May 31 (UPI) -- A 68-year-old pilot died in a plane crash in Washington County, Mo., Monday evening after performing stunts.

The pilot was identified as Dean Warner of Belgrade. The plane was a single-engine ultralight aircraft, which crashed at about 6 p.m. local time near the town of Potosi about 75 miles southwest of St. Louis.

Witnesses told authorities Warner was performing stunts before the plane malfunctioned and crashed. One of the plane's wings reportedly bent backwards. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said an investigation into the crash has been launched.
