Another armed man was wounded at the scene because police originally considered him a second shooter. However, police are currently interviewing him a the hospital and investigating why he was there. One resident died after being shot in his car.

A Precinct 5 constable's deputy was shot in the hand by a suspect and released from the hospital. Another deputy was shot but saved by his bullet-proof vest.

The shooters, armed with AR-15s, left five bullet holes in a police helicopter above the active shooting scene.

The normally quiet residential neighborhood was in lockdown mode as police and SWAT officers secured the area.

When an officer arrived, at least one of the suspects began firing at a gas station.

Witnesses reported suspects opening fire randomly in the streets. Vehicles were struck and windows broken out.

The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office said earlier it believed there may have been a third shooter still on the loose. No identities have been released at this time.

Houston police shut down Memorial Drive and asked people to avoid the area and shelter in place as the scene unfolded.

The city of Houston issued an alert, asking people in the area to shelter place until further notice, shutting doors and windows, drawing the shades and sheltering in an interior room away from windows and doors.
