1 dead, 3 injured in shooting at T.I. concert in New York

NEW YORK, May 26 (UPI) -- One person has been killed and three others injured Wednesday night in a shooting shortly before a concert by rapper T.I., police said.

The shooting took place in the V.I.P backstage area of the Irving Plaza music venue in New York City, officials said.

Rapper T.I. was due to perform later, but performers Maino and Uncle Murda were on stage at the time, Chief of Manhattan South Detectives William Aubry said.

The four shooting victims include a 34-year-old man shot in the chest, a 33-year-old man shot in the abdomen, officials said. One of the two was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital shortly after.

Another victim was a 26-year-old woman shot in the left leg who is expected to survive. The fourth victim is man who transported himself to the hospital. His condition is not known.

"We saw two people up on the VIP arguing, then everybody started running because they heard the shots," one female concertgoer said. "It was terrifying. We just kept running with everybody else because they were running for their lives, so we just started running, and I fell, and I got stomped on a little bit. My shoe came off."

No arrests have been made, police said.
