DODGE CITY, Kan., May 25 (UPI) -- Tornadoes touched down in Kansas and Oklahoma Tuesday, leaving multiple injuries and destroyed homes behind.

As many as nine tornadoes -- including rare dual tornadoes -- ripped through Kansas, with several injuries reported in Ford County, near Dodge City, the National Weather Service said. A home was reportedly destroyed, with various other property damage and propane leak just after 6:30 p.m.

"The storm was incredible. We watched multiple centers of circulation develop," Brad Guay, a meteorologist and field assistant for the Center for Severe Weather Research, said.

Another large tornado was reported near Scott City in western Kansas, though not believed to be responsible for any major damage or injuries.

In Oklahoma, possible tornadoes damaged parts of Shamrock and Bristow, near Tulsa. Multiple homes suffered extensive damage near Shamrock, the NWS said, and the Bristow Police Department confirmed injuries in the town, KOTV reported. In Bristow, trees also blocked a turnpike on-ramp, and one home was damaged.
