BELTSVILLE, Md., May 5 (UPI) -- A woman was killed and a bystander shot in a high school parking lot in Maryland after what police described as a domestic incident.

The suspect, identified by police as 62-year-old Eulalio Tordil, shot and killed his estranged wife Gladys Tordil in the parking lot of High Point High School in Beltsville, Md., on Thursday afternoon after the two got into an argument while she was waiting to pick up her children, police told NBC-Washington.

Tordil allegedly shot at a bystander several times after getting out of his car to confront Gladys, who was waiting for her children at the school, and then shot her several times, leaving her to die in her SUV.

The male bystander was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The Prince George's County Police Department is actively working to find and arrest the Adelphi man who shot and killed his estranged wife today," the department said in a press release.

School had been let out two hours before the shooting, which happened at 4:40 p.m., but students and teachers were still on campus for after-school activities, including baseball and softball games. All students and teaches still on the campus were secured inside the school until police determined it was safe.
