DENVER, April 29 (UPI) -- A Colorado woman who lured an expectant mother to a home and cut the unborn baby from her womb was sentenced Friday to serve 100 years in prison.

Dynel Lane was sentenced Friday in a Boulder court two months after she was convicted on charges of attempted murder, assault and unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett had asked for the maximum of 188 years.

In March 2015, Lane, 35, lured Michelle Wilkins to a home in Longmont, about 35 miles north of Denver, by posting an online ad for baby clothes. When Wilkins arrived, Lane attacked her and cut the baby from her womb.

The baby died and Lane was captured by police when she showed up at a hospital claiming she had just miscarried.

During the sentencing Friday, Wilkins was allowed to address Lane directly.

"I chose to use my time to address you directly, Dynel, because up to this very moment you refused to acknowledge us, the victims of your violent actions," she said. "I am a compassionate person, this is the foundation of the beliefs from which all others grow. It is clear that you need healing and my sincere belief that you get it."

Boulder County Judge Maria Berkenkotter also addressed the court as she imposed Lane's 100-year sentence.

"They will never get to see [the child] learn to crawl or walk or talk or sing, or perhaps even hurl herself on the floor of the grocery store, and that is because Ms. Lane took that from them," she said.
