Girl, 15, pepper sprayed during scuffle outside Donald Trump rally

JANESVILLE, Wis., March 30 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old girl was pepper sprayed by a Donald Trump supporter following a scuffle outside the Republican presidential candidate's rally Tuesday in Wisconsin.

The incident, which was captured on cellphone video and witnessed by several reporters, included a number of "black lives matter" protesters. The 15-year-old girl was later identified as Alex Drake, who is white. She is seen engaging Trump supporters in a shouting match.

The incident briefly turned physical as Drake appears to throw a punch. Immediately after that, someone out of frame from the video reaches out with a can of pepper spray or mace and sprays Drake directly in the face.

As Drake attempts to leave the crowd she is shoved from behind and jeered with profanities.

A witness told ABC News Drake was the individual who initiated the physical contact. Drake herself spoke with an NBC affiliate, saying she was pushing back against someone who had inappropriately grabbed her chest in the melee.

Video captured by a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter, which includes several profanities, also shows the incident and clearly captures Drake throwing a punch.

Drake was treated at the scene for her injury.

The incident is the latest in a string of violent outbursts at Trump rallies across the country, several of which have carried racial overtones. Earlier this month, a white man sucker-punched a black protester who was being led out of a Trump rally by police.

Janesville police said they are reviewing the relevant footage and interviewing witnesses to determine whether any charges should be filed.
