MILFORD , Pa., March 28 (UPI) -- Fire department search crews in northeastern Pennsylvania found the wreckage of a helicopter crash in which the pilot was killed.

The helicopter crashed Sunday in heavily wooded terrain in Pike County's Greene Township in the Pocono Mountains near the Pennsylvania-New Jersey border.

It was heading for Doylestown, Pa., airport and a search was undertaken when it did not land as expected. The first emergency call was reported around 9 p.m. Sunday and the helicopter was found near midnight Monday, with crews from local fire departments and other agencies involved in the search.

The Pike County coroner was called to the scene of the accident, the Hemlock Farms Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company said.

The wreckage was discovered using coordinates learned by calling the pilot's cellphone, Pike County Emergency Management Agency Director Tim Knapp said.

The name of the pilot and the model of the helicopter were not released by officials.
