SANTA ANA, Calif., March 18 (UPI) -- A Southern California Uber driver has been accused of raping a woman after driving her to her hotel, authorities said Thursday.

Omar Mahmoud Mousa, 52, picked up two women and drove them to a bar in Fullerton, Orange County prosecutors said. Mousa told the women to call his cell instead of using the app when they were ready to leave the bar.

When Mousa picked up the women and returned them to their hotel in Anaheim, one of the women passed out. Mousa raped the other one, Deputy District Attorney Rick Zimmer said.

Mousa was out of the country when DNA tests results led authorities to suspect him, and he was arrested upon his return to the United States on March 7.

He was charged with with one felony count of forcible rape and two other felony sex-related offenses. Prosecutors believe there might be more victims.

Mouse is currently in Orange County Jail with bail set at $100,000. He is expected to appear in court on April 8. He could face up to 24 years in prison if convicted.

"Uber has a zero-tolerance policy for violent behavior, and our thoughts are with the victim of this atrocious crime," Uber said in a statement. "We immediately blocked this individual's access to the Uber platform upon learning of this incident and actively assisted law enforcement in their investigation."
