NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- A Republic Airlines flight bound for New York City was diverted Thursday evening after reporting it had been struck by lightning. No injuries were reported.
Flight 4233 from Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina was bound for LaGuardia Airport when it was struck about 6 p.m. The plane instead was diverted to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport, about 10 miles away from La Guardia, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
The Embraer E170 plane, with 55 passengers and four crew members on board landed safely.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
