MONMOUTH, N.J., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would be better suited to address the concerns of the nation's black population or poor people, a new poll indicates.

The poll, released by Monmouth University on Thursday, found that two-thirds of those surveyed believed Clinton would do an "excellent" or "good" job addressing the concerns of the black community.

That's compared with half, who believe Sanders would be better suited.

When it comes to poorer Americans, or those who are otherwise struggling financially, 69 percent believed Clinton would do an "excellent" or "good" job improving their lot -- while 60 percent believed Sanders would do just as well.

South Carolina holds its Democratic primary on Tuesday. The polling data shows that 59 percent support Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, while just 30 percent support Sanders.

The poll surveyed 403 likely Democratic primary voters between Feb 14-16 with a margin or error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
