Arkansas State University briefly on lockdown after gunmen spotted

Reports of two, and then three, gunmen led to the campus being put on lockdown for about an hour.

JONESBORO, Ark., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The campus of Arkansas State University was on lockdown late Sunday afternoon amid reports of two or three men on campus with guns, according to reports.

University police and members of other law enforcement agencies locked the campus down for about an hour while they were clearing buildings in the areas the men had been seen before giving the all clear just before 4:00 P.M., the university posted on Twitter.

The university reported two men with weapons had been seen near the student union on campus, issuing a lockdown order just before 3:00 P.M., with An update about 30 minutes said there were potentially three men with weapons wearing black near the campus.

No shots were fired on campus, however police continue to investigate the situation, reported WREG-TV.
