Greyhound bus overturns on California highway, two dead

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- At least two people died and 18 people were injured after a Greyhound bus with 20 passengers rolled on a San Jose, Calif., highway Tuesday.

The bus left from Los Angeles and was traveling north on Highway 101 with planned stops in San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland. The bus was traveling in the carpool lane. Witnesses said the bus appeared to be swerving before overturning onto its side.

The bus driver and the other injured passengers were taken to the hospital. Emergency workers said five people had significant injuries and 13 had less severe injuries.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.
