WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham plans to endorse former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for president on Friday, several media outlets have reported.

Graham, who dropped his own presidential bid in December, said Bush is "prepared to be commander-in-chief on Day One."

"He's steady and ready," Graham's camp told the Charleston, S.C. Post and Courier he is expected to say. "He understands the serious threats our nation faces and has a plan to keep us safe."

The South Carolina senator, 60, is expected to say Bush can beat Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton for the presidency.
