Shooting at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, multiple victims

COLORADO SPRINGS, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Police in Colorado Springs are searching for an active gunmen after a report of an active shooter near a Planned Parenthood.

At least four police officers have been injured by gunfire exchanged with the suspect. Local news reported a gunman firing shots from a parking lot to passing cars. The gunman is thought to be holed up in the Planned Parenthood building, but police are unclear on the shooter's exact location.

"We don't have the suspect yet, and we still consider this an active situation," Lt. Catherine Buckley, spokesperson for the Colorado Spring Police Department, told reporters.

Authorities also said an "unknown number of civilians" were injured.

About 11:45 a.m. local time Colorado Springs police tweeted that motorists should avoid the area because the scene was not secure.

"We were looking out the window and we had an officer wave us back inside," Brigitte Wolfe, who works at Jun Japanese Restauraunt near the scene, told the Denver Post. "They have everything blocked off."

Police spokespersons initially offered conflicting updates on the situation, first saying the shooter had been contained but later saying they situation was ongoing.
