WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Draft Biden, a super PAC dedicated to convincing Joe Biden to run for president, released an emotional ad online Wednesday featuring the vice president talking about his family.

The 90-second clip is titled "My Redemption" and juxtaposes Biden's 2015 address at a Yale commencement ceremony with images of him and his family.

After being elected to the Senate in 1972, Biden's wife and young daughter were killed in a car crash and his sons, Hunter and Beau, badly injured. Beau ultimately died of cancer earlier this year.

During the ad, Biden addresses the positive effect the deaths of his wife and daughter had on his relationship with his sons, the accomplishments they have made and his belief that the country is on the "cusp" of various social, scientific and technological advances.

The ad ends with text reading "Joe, run" and a plea for viewers to keep the ad on the air by contributing to the super PAC. Senior adviser to the Draft Biden effort Josh Alcorn told CNN he is unsure whether Biden will run but believes there is "a thirst for someone who has his story and his empathy."

Ad director Mark Putnam told NPR the ad will run during the Oct. 13 Democratic debate in Las Vegas.

A veteran Democratic political ad maker, Putnam said he was not looking to make a video about Biden's tragedy until he heard the Yale speech and found it "immediately captivating." He hopes it will inspire both Democratic voters and Biden himself.
