OMAHA, July 9 (UPI) -- Authorities have arrested a 12-year-old boy and charged him with first-degree murder for what authorities believe was a drug deal gone bad in Nebraska last month.

Jarrell Milton was arrested by U.S. Marshals late Tuesday in Minneapolis -- about 400 miles away from the murder scene, NBC News reported. He was wanted in the death of 31-year-old Jamymell Ray, who was shot during a drug deal on June 29, authorities said.

According to investigators, Milton was among three young boys who opened fire on Ray at an arranged meeting to buy marijuana from him. Police said his brother, Jamar Milton, 17, and Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, 15, were also arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

All three boys had carried weapons to the supposed drug deal, NBC affiliate WOWT-TV reported.

Ray and another individual, Charles Fisher, 30, were wounded by the gunfire. Fisher was treated and released from a hospital.

NBC News reported Wednesday that Milton was being extradited back to Nebraska to face the murder charge. His brother and alleged accomplice have been charged as adults in the case.

Authorities said it is believed that all three boys have gang affiliations -- a problem that police say continues to grow worse in the U.S. Midwest.
