NEW YORK, July 7 (UPI) -- Donald Trump deleted a tweet quoting another Twitter user's remark about Jeb Bush's wife.

"'@RobHeilbron: @realDonaldTrump #JebBush has to like the Mexican Illegals because of his wife,'" came a tweet from Trump's official account on Saturday.

The tweet appears to have been deleted Sunday but was captured by Media Matters for America Vice President Angelo Carusone.

Bush's wife, Columba, was born in Mexico.

A spokeswoman for Trump's campaign told ABC News: "Mr. Trump did not write this tweet. This was a retweet from somebody else on the posting of a major story that appeared on Breitbart."

Trump has come under fire for his comments regarding Mexican immigrants.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending the best... they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems. They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime," he said during the announcement of his presidential candidacy. "They're rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they're telling us what we're getting."

According to the New York Times, Bush said he "absolutely" was offended by Trump's comments.

"To make these extraordinarily ugly kind of comments is not reflective of the Republican Party," Bush said.
