SLIDELL, La., June 29 (UPI) -- Walmart has apologized after one of its stores baked a cake bearing the Islamic State flag for a Louisiana customer, whose request for a Confederate flag cake had been rejected.

In a video posted to YouTube Friday, Chuck Netzhammer, of Slidell, says a local Walmart refused to fill an order for a cake bearing the Confederate flag and the words "heritage not hate."

Netzhammer says he went to another Walmart in the area and successfully ordered a cake with the flag of IS, also known as ISIS.

"Wal-Mart,'' Netzhammer says in the video, "you got some explaining to do.''

A Walmart spokesman told ABC News that "an associate in a local store did not know what the design meant and made a mistake."

"The cake should not have been made and we apologize," the spokesman said.

Walmart was one of several major American retailers who announced last week that they would stop selling Confederate flag merchandise, after nine black parishioners were shot and killed at a church in Charleston, S.C.

"We never want to offend anyone with the products that we offer," the company said of the decision.
