LAS VEGAS, June 26 (UPI) -- NFL Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp faces new criminal charges over an alleged fight in April, during which he bit his girlfriend's finger and stomped on her head, a police report says.

Sapp and his girlfriend were at a resort hotel in Las Vegas on April 28, the report says, when the pair began fighting. At one point during the argument, the woman and Sapp left the resort and drove to a nearby condominium. On the car ride over, Sapp bit her finger, the police report states.

Once at the condo, Sapp's girlfriend claims the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star stomped on her head while wearing sandals. A friend of Sapp's girlfriend said she received bruising on her shoulders, legs, face and lower lip.

If convicted on all three charges, Sapp could be sentenced to 18 months in prison. He is due back in court on July 23, CBS Sports reported Thursday.

Just a month ago, Sapp was embroiled in another legal dispute for which he ultimately reached a plea deal with prosecutors over a case involving the solicitation of a prostitute and assault.

Sapp, who had been an analyst for NFL Network, was fired from that job the day after his Feb. 2 arrest.

Mike Florio, a football analyst with NBC Sports, wrote on his blog Thursday that this latest legal incident involving Sapp will likely cost him his broadcast career.

"If there was ever any chance that Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp would be returning to a TV screen or any media company at any point in the near or distant future, there probably isn't now," he wrote on NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk blog. "He likely now has been exiled from any type of high-profile media employment for a lot longer than that -- possibly for the rest of his life."
