WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- Since opening his own Twitter account earlier this month, President Obama now has a better platform to access the people and respond to their letters.

Last Friday, one letter from a 5-year-old girl named Yasmeen, caught the president's attention when she hoped for marriage equality and world peace, which compelled him to respond.

Yasmeen's aunt, Dr. Fahmida shared a photo of the young girl's letter on Twitter and wrote, "@POTUS A letter from my 5 year old niece. Right out of the mouths of babes!"

The letter read: "Dear President Barack Obama, I am 5 almost 6 years old. Please stop war for our world, instead have a meeting," she suggested. "Please give a speech to tell everyone that can marry who they want. Thank you."

A few hours later Obama tweeted back, "@DrFahmida tell your niece I really like her letter. Couldn't agree more!"

The Twitter exchange garnered quite the attention, the original tweet of the letter received over 4,000 shares. Along with supporters there were also critics who did not agree with the message, but Dr. Fahmida still stuck by her post and praised her niece.

"We stand by the beautiful message and what it meant for a 5 year old to believe her voice matters," the psychologist responded to one follower. "Also with the positive comes a hate and there is nothing high about that:)"

Obama also used his new Twitter handle recently to joke around with former President Bill Clinton.

President Clinton first welcomed the acting commander in chief and wrote, "Welcome to @Twitter, @POTUS! One question: Does that username stay with the office? #askingforafriend"

"Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?" Obama responded.
