NASHVILLE, Ark., May 11 (UPI) -- A system of suspected tornadoes killed at least two people at a mobile home park in Nashville, Ark., and another two in the city of Van, Texas, on Sunday.
Tornado warnings were in effect in both locations. Severe weather, including thunderstorms, affected up to 50 million Americans from South Texas up to Michigan.
The weather injured at least 43 people in Van late Sunday. Between 50 and 100 homes were damaged or destroyed in the town about an hour southeast of Dallas. Van Intermediate School also sustained damage.
"Damages range from completely destroyed homes, damaged homes, to trees and power lines down," Van Fire Marshall Chuck Allen said. "The initial response of emergency responders was to locate and identify any injured individuals."
