BOND HILL, Ohio, April 19 (UPI) -- A woman in Ohio died Sunday after a tree fell on top of her vehicle as she drove down the road, according to witnesses and police.

Officials in Bond Hill said the entire tree uprooted before smashing into the gray sedan at about 5 p.m. At least one witness told WLWT the moment of impact came right when the woman slowed down as another vehicle made a turn ahead.

The woman, believed to be in her mid-60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has yet to be released.

Leonard Washington, the man who was driving in front of the woman, told reporters her last words were "Help me, help me," but he was unable to remove her from the wreckage because the tree had landed on the front of the car and pinned her within.

The tree is large and blocked all four lanes of the road. Police taped off the area and are investigating.

Neighbors at an apartment complex next to the scene told reporters the tree was one of several marked months ago with an orange "X" but not removed.
