Police: Andrew Getty's death not foul play

By Amy R. Connolly

HOLLYWOOD HILLS , Calif., April 1 (UPI) -- The death of oil fortune heir Andrew Getty appears to be natural or accidental, police said. Foul play is not suspected.

Police told the Los Angeles Times that Getty, 47, was found in his bathroom naked from the waist down. He appeared to have suffered some sort of blunt-force trauma that may have been from a fall or something else.

A Los Angeles police spokesman said it was still "very, very early in the investigation" but initially, "this does not appear immediately to be a criminal act."

Los Angeles County coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said it could take up to 10 weeks to get the full report on the causes surrounding Getty's death, but there are indications he suffered from a medical condition.

"The tentative information that we do have is that he was not feeling good for the last couple months," Winter said, "and he supposedly had an appointment tomorrow with a personal physician."

A woman at the home, reported as Getty's former girlfriend, was being questioned by police.

The death was originally reported as suspicious.
