PERRIS, Calif., March 18 (UPI) -- A U.S. Navy SEAL died Wednesday after a parachute failed to deploy during a training exercise in Perris, Calif.

The member of the West Coast SEAL unit, whose name was not released, died from injuries sustained during a training jump.

The jump took place in Riverside County.

It's unclear what led to the parachute deployment problem.
