MIAMI, March 8 (UPI) -- The Mall of America's reign as the nation's largest shopping mall may be ending. The company that owns the mall plans to build an even bigger shopping venue in South Florida that it's calling "American Dream Miami."

According to the Miami Herald, the project could cost as much as $4 billion and employ as many as 25,000 workers. The Herald report says the proposed mall will include condominiums, an amusement park, a skating rink and an indoor ski slope.

Backed by Triple Five, which owns Minnesota's Mall of America, the proposed shopping mecca is slated for land at the intersection of Florida's Turnpike and Interstate 75, two of the region's busiest highways. According to the New York Daily News, Triple Five is currently in the planning stages and does not have a tentative opening date.

American Dream Meadowlands, a Triple Five property located next to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., is tentatively scheduled to open in the fall of 2016. American Dream Miami is reportedly modeled after Triple Five's project in New Jersey.
