DURHAM, N.C., March 2 (UPI) -- Former Duke basketball player Rasheed Sulaimon has been accused of sexually assaulting two women at the university during the 2013-2014 school year.

In October 2013, a female student was reportedly assaulted during the student-led diversity retreat Common Ground. A second female student was allegedly assaulted at the same retreat a semester later.

The allegations were brought to the attention of the team psychologist in March 2014, but school officials did not take action until 10 months later.

"Nothing happened after months and months of talking about [the sexual assault allegations]," an affiliate of the team said. "The university administration knew. Kevin White knew, Mike Cragg knew."

People close the women have said they have not filed a formal complaint in fear of receiving backlash similar to what was seen in the case against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

If the women file official complaints, the university will be required to investigate and pursue appropriate disciplinary measures if Sulaimon is found guilty.

Sulaimon was removed from the Blue Devils basketball team by Coach Mike Krzyzewski at the end of January after the allegations surfaced.

Sulaimon is still a student at Duke University.
