LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and sodomy Thursday morning after an arrest warrant was issued earlier this week.

According to the arrest warrant, Jones assaulted two women, ages 20 and 19, early Sunday. Both women identified Jones while at the University of Louisville Hospital, where rape tests were performed, the warrant said.

The Courier-Journal reported Jones pleaded not guilty to the charges.

During a press conference Thursday, University of Louisville police Lt. Col. Kenny Brown said the department got a call about 10:30 a.m. Sunday about an assault at an off-campus private student-housing apartment. Both women are students, one from the university and the other possibly from Western Kentucky University. Brown said Jones has been cooperating with the investigation.

"We are looking at video at this time," Brown said, referring to videos from the apartment complex. "The case will go through the court system. Like I said in the beginning, it's an open investigation and a continuing investigation."

Two other men, Tyvon Walker and Jalen Tilford, were also charged in the case.Their connection to Jones is unclear. Walker was arrested on charges of rape and sodomy. Tilford was arrested on a charge of rape.
