SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Even Anthony Noto, Twitter's chief financial officer, has a Twitter account that's vulnerable to hackers.

Nearly 300 tweets went out from Noto's Twitter handle, @anthonynoto, on Tuesday, encouraging Twitter users to click on links to spam websites.

"OMG when did you do this," read some of the tweets. "This is too funny of you," read others.

Twitter spokesman Jim Prosser confirmed later that spammers were the likely culprits.

"His account was sending spam tweets," Prosser told Bloomberg. "We've locked the account down and deleted the tweets."

Tuesday's hack comes just months after Noto accidentally tweeted plans to buy a company in what was intended to be a direct message to a coworker.

"I think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16 -- we will need to sell him. i have a plan," Noto wrote last November.
