WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Ethan Czahor, the chief technology officer for Jeb Bush's political action committee, Right to Rise, has resigned, just a day after deleting dozens of old tweets he described as inappropriate.

"I've resigned my role at Right to Rise. Best of luck to everyone there, and I apologize in advance to whoever fills my position," Czahor tweeted Tuesday.

Czahor, co-founder of the now-defunct Hipster.com, started clearing out his Twitter account shortly after he was hired to head digital operations for Bush, who is considered a likely 2016 presidential candidate.

"I deleted some old jokes I made years ago that I no longer find funny or appropriate. #learning #maturing," Czahor tweeted.

Buzzfeed recovered and published the controversial tweets, which date back to 2009 and include several disparaging comments about women. Some of the tweets refer to women as "sluts." In a statement, Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell said that Right to Rise accepted Czahor's resignation on Tuesday.

"While Ethan has apologized for regrettable and insensitive comments, they do not reflect the views of Gov. Bush or his organization, and it is appropriate for him to step aside. We wish him the best," she said.
