PIKEVILLE, Ky., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A Kentucky pharmacist says anger prompted a burst of strength needed to fight off a knife-carrying robber who entered his store.

Surveillance video shows a man wearing a black beanie, gloves and a gray sweat shirt enter a pharmacy in Pikeville just before closing time.

Pharmacist Larry Fortenberry told Lex18 that the man looked "normal enough," until he pulled a knife and chased him around the corner.

Fortenberry resisted, and video shows him force the robber against a counter as the two thrash back and forth.

"Whether it be the adrenaline kick, or whatever -- the grace of God, angels supporting me, I have no idea," Fortenberry told Lex18. "But I got really mad and really angry."

Fortenberry pulled the robber away from the counter and pushed him from the store, all while keeping the knife away. "He constantly was trying to stick me with the knife," he told Lex18.

The pharmacist says he had previously thought over possible robbery scenarios and decided being passive was safer, but that it "all went out the window" during the confrontation.

"The comedic daughters I have, they said they didn't know I had ninja skills," he told Lex18.
